Commercial Slab Lifting With Polyurethane Foam

Commercial Slab Lifting With Polyurethane Foam

Commercial structures require a strong foundation that can support their weight. Concrete is perfect for commercial foundation slabs because of its durability and strength. However, because of their size, commercial buildings can be more susceptible to concrete sinking and settling. Concrete settlement is a common issue in the Greater Edmonton region. Our harsh winters and usually dry summers can take their toll on concrete foundation slabs. In the past, mudjacking was really the only way to lift and level commercial foundation slabs back to their original height. Unfortunately, mudjacking is messy and invasive and does not offer a permanent solution for concrete settlement because of the materials used. Luckily we have a better way! At LVL Concrete Lifting, we use polyurethane foam to lift and level settled commercial foundation slabs. Polyurethane foam offers many benefits for commercial applications. The concrete experts at LVL are here to tell you what they are! Read on to learn more!

Polyurethane Foam For Commercial Concrete Lifting

Polyurethane foam is an innovative concrete lifting product that has made commercial concrete lifting easier than ever. Polyurethane concrete lifting, also known as foam jacking or slab jacking, is a fast and efficient process. We begin by drilling 5/8 inch holes into the top of the settled concrete slab. We then inject polyurethane foam into the holes, where it expands, fills any voids and lifts the foundation slab from below. Polyurethane foam cures in minutes, and the lifted area can generally be used that same day. Because of this fast cure time, we can raise sunken and settled commercial concrete slabs with little to no interruption to services. Once the slab is lifted, we fill the holes, and the work is done! Mudjacking is similar, but it requires drilling larger holes and piping a concrete slurry below the slab. Mudjacking is messy and invasive and requires more time for the slurry to cure. These are not issues with polyurethane foam concrete lifting

Polyurethane Foam is Environmentally Friendly

One of the greatest benefits of using polyurethane foam to lift concrete is that it is environmentally friendly. The polyurethane foam we use is made partly of recycled materials and contains no toxic chemicals. This means there is no risk of polluting the soil or groundwater around the slab. Polyurethane concrete lifting also eliminates the need to pour a new foundation slab. This keeps old concrete out of landfills, which adds to the environmentally friendly benefits of polyurethane foam.

Polyurethane Concrete Lifting is Cost Effective

Polyurethane foam concrete lifting is the most cost-effective way to lift and level sunken commercial foundation slabs. Because of its durability and long lifespan, the process generally will never need to be completed again, saving you time and money on future repair costs. Having sunken and settled commercial foundation slabs lifted with polyurethane foam can extend the life of the slab and eliminate the need to replace it. This not only reduces the labour costs and time spent on the project, but it also saves money on replacement costs, which can be very expensive. This makes polyurethane foam perfect for commercial applications where maintenance budgets might be a concern. The cost of polyurethane concrete lifting will vary based on the size of the project. But generally speaking, it is much less expensive to lift and level concrete than it is to replace it.

Polyurethane Foam is Strong and Long-Lasting

Another great benefit of polyurethane foam is its strength and durability. Polyurethane foam is incredibly strong. It can support weights of up to 4,000 pounds per square foot, making it ideal for commercial applications. Polyurethane foam is also very long-lasting. It is resistant to water, so it will not degrade over time if water is present in the soil. It is also resistant to the elements, UV rays, pests and other environmental factors. Polyurethane foam can last for literal lifetimes. In most cases, lifting concrete with polyurethane foam is a permanent solution for sunken and settled concrete. Other methods like mudjacking will need to be repeated in the future because the mudjacking slurry can be affected by the same issues that initially caused the slab to settle. When it comes to lifting and levelling commercial concrete slabs, there is no better method than polyurethane concrete lifting.
